1.31 | A Moon and a Highlight

Today, students read independently.

Then, we read “Catch the Moon” together as a class in StudySync.

Students were introduced to our Annotation Acronym, CRAVESIQ. We discussed how to use it to annotate our reading and began practicing together in StudySync. Students will continue highlighting the entire excerpt tomorrow.

1.28 | Flippity Gridy

Today, students read independently.

Then, students recorded a FlipGrid response to a prompt; this assignment is in Google Classroom.

Students were reminded that this week’s NoRedInk assignment is due today.

1.27 | Lit Discussion Prep

Today, students completed the word analogy of the day. Then, students read independently.

Students worked on their lit discussion prep sheet based on the video we watched yesterday in class. Students were allowed to work with a partner but were warned to only work with a partner if they will be able to complete the assignment and stay on task. The assignment is due tonight.

1.21 | Readin’ and Writin’

Today, students went to the library to check out fiction books. We read in class every day, so students are encouraged to check out two books since we may not return to the library before they finish one book. Students may use their academic assist time to check out new books, but will not be able to use class time to check out new books.

Then, students finished the assignment from yesterday; it’s due today by midnight.

Students who finished their assignment from yesterday were encouraged to work on the NoRedInk.com assignment for next week, which is posted for them to complete on the website.

If students finished early, they read independently until the bell.
