Today, students responded to the journal prompt below. Students with an excused absence should write a half-page response to the journal and submit to Mrs. Evans with a completed absent work form.

The late writer Maya Angelou once said, “Seek patience and passion in equal amounts. Patience alone will not build the temple. Passion alone will destroy its walls.” The temple in this quote represents your goals in life. React to this quote. How does patience play a role in achieving goals? How does passion? Why are they both necessary and how can not having enough of each ruin the chances of achievement? Provide an example and explain your response.

Then, students read independently. Absent students should read independently for 20 minutes and submit a half-page summary of their reading with an absent form attached for credit.

Then, we reviewed the basic setup of the Ohio AIR test as we kick off our test prep leading up to the AIR test.  Here are some things we reviewed:
