Pandemic Leave Information

We all have a lot of questions, but let’s stick with what we do know. As of this post, the district will be closed to students until April 3. This leaves me in a unique situation, as many of you know. Please review the video below where I explain the situation as of this posting. I will edit this post as things change.

Today, students read independently. Absent students should read independently for 20 minutes and submit a half-page summary of their reading with an absent form attached for credit.

Then, students continued working on their Independent Reading Project. Students were to show Mrs. Evans that their puzzle is 95% finished; students were instructed to hold off on cutting up the puzzles for now as well. Once students finished, they were to move on to their plot assignment as well.

Today, students used class time to work on their Independent Reading Projects. They will need to checkpoint their setting puzzles during class tomorrow. As a reminder: Checkpoints are when students show Mrs. Evans that they are about 95% finished with the assignment so that Mrs. Evans can be sure they’re not way off base and give very basic feedback to students so they are not turning in something completely incorrect. They are required steps in the assignment, which means they are for a grade.

Then, students were to finish the first page of the Independent Reading Project, the Deets page. It was due by the end of class.

Students were given time to work on their Independent Reading Project, with a focus on the first part: Setting Jigsaw Puzzle. We will checkpoint these on Thursday.

Today, students read independently. Absent students should read independently for 20 minutes and submit a half-page summary of their reading with an absent form attached for credit.

Then, students were introduced to the Independent Reading Project. We will use the calendar below to checkpoint the parts of the assignment.  A checkpoint is when the work is pretty much done and it gives Mrs. Evans a chance to warn a student when the assignment is way off task or way incorrect and give feedback on some minor/overall changes that will improve their overall final grade.

Today, students read and annotated the article “Why Do We Hate Love?” and students answered the questions. This was due at the end of class.
